The Design Foundation

The Design Foundation was founded in 2001 as a means to expand IDSA's outreach and charitable efforts specfic to the educational needs of our broad community. It is purpose built to support services and programs for the general public that are focused on the following:

  • Promote public education efforts concerning societal benefits of industrial design
  • Fund undergraduate and post-graduate scholarships in industrial design studies
  • Foster social responsibility among industrial designers and the impact its has on society

The most well-known and longstanding of The Design Foundation’s initiatives is the annual Undergraduate Scholarship program which, to date, has awarded over $30,000 in financial assistance to dozens of design students. These scholarships allow the Society to help students at the earliest stages of their design careers and provide much needed financial support in the pursuit of a design degree.

Funding for The Design Foundation comes primarily from generous donations made by individuals, families, or businesses who share the same values as The Design Foundation and wish to advance the Foundation’s mission. The Design Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. A donation can be made at any time, which are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Those interested in making a donation may do so by clicking the  link or by mailing a check made payable to Design Foundation at the address below:
